Watch enthusiasts and horology experts from around the world are set to converge in Dubai this month at the upcoming Dubai Watch Week, the event’s sixth, and largest edition yet. Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, and Member of the Dubai Council, this year’s event promises a fascinating blend of immersive experiences, renowned brands, insightful masterclasses, and much more.
Horological Extravaganza
Scheduled from November 16th to 20th, 2023, at The Gate, Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Dubai Watch Week will have over 60 of the world’s leading watch brands in attendance and promises to unveil exclusive limited editions sure to captivate watch aficionados. Prominent brands will showcase their latest timepieces in dedicated spaces, while The Collectors Lounge, a unique meeting ground for international and regional watch enthusiasts, will host curated sessions, offering a platform for horology enthusiasts to connect and learn.
Immersive Sessions and Thought Leaders
The event’s diverse and experiential program includes nine immersive Horology Forum sessions, eleven Masterclasses, and ten Creative Hub sessions. The Horology Forum will explore the intersection of horology with luxury automotive, artisanship, and education. This year, it will feature six panels and three debates, including the first-ever Arabic panel, enriching the event’s cultural diversity. Eminent speakers and moderators from the horology industry, such as François-Henry Bennahmias (Audemars Piguet CEO), George Bamford (Founder of Bamford Watch Department), and Nicholas Foulkes (author and historian), will offer their insights. The panels will be live-streamed on the Dubai Watch Week YouTube Channel, allowing enthusiasts from around the world to partake in these enriching discussions.
Masterclasses and Creative Hub
Eleven masterclasses will engage participants in hands-on workshops and dialogues. These include ‘Miss Audrey’s Sweet Art Dial-Making Masterclass’ by Bovet, crafting dials from pure sugar, and the ‘Emirati Safeefah Leather Bracelet’ workshop, offering a unique Emirati artistic experience.
The Creative Hub will be a hotbed of thought-provoking discussions. Notable among them is ‘Super League of Sustainability,’ exploring circularity in the luxury Swiss watch industry, led by ID Géneve. ‘Winding Forward’ will provide an intimate conversation with Jean Claude Biver, detailing his transformative influence on the watch industry.
Christie’s Returns with Educational Talks
Christie’s will grace the event with engaging talks and panel discussions, offering complimentary watch valuations by their Middle East horology specialists. For young visitors aged 7-14, the Christie’s auction for kids will provide a delightful and informative auction experience, nurturing the next generation of watch enthusiasts.
Exhibits, Activations, and Culinary Delights
The Brands Exhibition’s central area will showcase the ‘Evolution of Cameo’ by Amadeo and the mesmerizing ‘M.A.D Gallery.’ Amadeo’s unique collection of cameo pins designed for watch leather straps seamlessly blends tradition with modernity, while M.A.D Gallery emphasizes the beauty of detailed craftsmanship through global artists’ creations.
Guests can also explore an exhibition by Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH). By answering five questions correctly via the DWW app, visitors have a chance to win luxury watches and experiences daily.
